Dale Watson, President and CEO of AlphaLims
Dale has over 45 years working in the analytical laboratory field. He’s a leader in Laboratory Information Systems Field. Using customized software, he’s been instrumental in the development of software automatization and data transfers in labs around the country. With his chemistry background Dale has excelled at configuring LIMS products to meet the needs of environmental laboratories, public health laboratories, wastewater control laboratories, manufacturing quality control facilities and forensic labs. His technical expertise includes implementing a StarLims upgrade for a large environmental lab in Denver, Colorado. Dale was the project manager for the installation and coding at a drinking water supply laboratory in New York. Additional highlights include the implementation of StarLims V10 for one of California’s largest public utility commissions. In his role in California, he led the rollout for multiple sites, implementing regulatory wastewater reports and automated systems for wet chem, inorganics, biologics as well as training supervisors. Dale has also led projects and software development for the country’s largest independent water quality testing lab, several state public health laboratories, the US Defense Cyber Crime Center and California’s largest municipal water authority.
Benjamin McClellan Senior VP of LIMS Development Operations
Benjamin has spent over 20 years on the frontlines with STARLIMS. In his early career with the Battelle Memorial Institute, he was tasked with implementing and administering a Thermo-Fisher Atlas chromatography data acquisition system. He supervised and trained the LIMS development staff, wrote and maintained software development plans and designed and maintained 20 analytical chemistry instruments. He brought STARLIMS to the Battelle National Biodefense Institute, as well as performed code reviews for two teams and trained the staff on new interfaces. Most recently as a senior developer with a master’s degree in I.T. system design and as an experienced chemist, Ben is leading the team at a Department of Defense laboratory. Both as part of a team and as an individual interacting with clients directly, Ben is identifying and putting into production software enhancements.
Peter Kelly, AlphaLims Senior VP of LIMS Sales Operations
Peter has been a longtime partner of the AlphaLims team with over 25 years of experience leading and working on software development projects in a wide array of business environments. Peter excels in transforming a clients’ business rules into software that yields higher productivity. His business arena includes clinical labs, cyber forensic labs, health care, public health labs, manufacturing quality assurance and environmental labs. He has developed customized software and databases for his clients. His areas of expertise include various relational database tools, visual basic, .NET, web applications utilizing ASP.NET, ado.NET, C#, HTML, JavaScript, IIS, MS Access, Crystal Reports, Oracle, and MS SQL Server and Starlims. Some of his projects includes an Abbott reference lab project, a DNA Biorepository system for a major university, a large children’s hospital and commercial pharmaceutical lab, a highly restricted biological defense analysis and countermeasure lab, several quality assurance labs for a large manufacturing company, software development for the US Defense Cyber Crime Center as well as multiple state public health labs.
Jay Hartman, Senior Software Developer AlphaLims
Jay is an 18-year veteran in the software development arena. He has been instrumental in working hand in hand with lab users to identify software requirements and customizing Starlims programming to meet those needs. He has developed and modified new forms, added functionality, automated procedures, and built data parsing scripts to enhance the Starlims capabilities. Jay is adept in programming languages, Crystal reports and the design, documentation, troubleshooting and debugging software code in VB.NET,C#,VBA and Starlims scripting language. He spent 6 years supporting lab operations for the US Geological Survey Water Quality Laboratory. His career was launched as an Air Frames Night Check Supervisor at the Corrosion Control Work Center for the US Navy. There he received multiple awards, certifications and qualifications in the design and maintenance of several command level databases.
Robert Watson Senior Software Developer
Robert has focused the last 12 years enhancing the Starlims V 10 & V 11 product in forensic, clinical, environmental, manufacturing and quality management arenas. As both an individual and as part of team, Robert has been developing and testing enhancements for his clients. He has been a developer for the largest drinking water laboratory in the United States, creating custom programs and reports. He spent 3 & ½ years at the DEA developing enhancements, troubleshooting programs, and working the helpdesk of a STARLIMS V10 system in a large performance drug testing lab. Robert developed experimental protocols and transactions for a private team. He worked with Abbott Informatics on a QM project developing experiment protocols and transactions for a private lab. Robert has expertise with STARLIMS, MultiLIMS, utilized Crystal reports and is fluent in a broad spectrum of programming language tools.
Jerry Cooper Senior Software Developer
Jerry has been in the environmental laboratory industry as a bench chemist, department lead, technical writer, software developer and LIMS administrator for over 28 years. For over a decade he has been developing custom applications, crystal reports and data parsing scripts for various laboratories. He’s currently working on STARLIMS system upgrades. He works with lab teams to ensure they understand new application upgrades. As a business Analyst/Developer he spearheaded a new LIMS system install making sure they transition from the old LIMS system and the new version worked seamlessly. He was the lead developer of enhancements and customization in two quality assurance laboratories for a large manufacturing company. The firm produces highly regulated uranium enriched products sold throughout the world. Jerry has also worked as everything from a developer to the project lead for a number of industries involving STARLIMS. Responsibilities included Crystal reports development, J Script, form creation and SQL building.
